Gift Giving and Str-EAT Food Mission

by

Happy Friday everyone! I love that time has been flying extra faster these days. How many days more until you guys celebrate Christmas? I don’t celebrate it, but I am excited for all of you who do! I have been talking to a friend about what gifts he has received so far just earlier today, and he was like…

None so far. It’s too early for gifts.

Are you kidding me? It’s never too early to give and receive gifts! πŸ˜€ I’ve gotten lots of small gifts already…even when I don’t celebrate. πŸ˜›

So what have I gotten so far? Mostly chocolates, journals, planner and purses. I felt a bit guilty that I was the only one receiving gifts so I decided to buyΒ some and gave them to my friends.

If I were to be asked for my opinion about gift giving, I would always prefer giving and receiving food as a gift. I have been trying to be a minimalist, and one part of being one is to reduce the amount of things I possess. Hence, I would always go for the one that is consumable — Food.

Tomorrow, one of my girl friends, Meggie, and I are planning to visit Maginhawa Street and go on a food hunt. This is apparently our gift to each other. We rarely see each other nowadays since we live in the opposite sides of the city, and we want to make sure that we always make our time spent together as precious and exciting as possible.

Maginhawa Street is a place in my city where you can find a variety of restaurants and food stalls that offer really delicious and interesting food.

This is a map I found on NogNog in the City

There are so many restaurants in there, but I made my own list of places I want to try.

  1. Breakfast TableΒ
  2. Sweet Spot Cafe
  3. Frosted Desserts

…and the most important and most interesting place I want to visit is

Cat Cafe

Some of my friends have already been to this place, and if you’re a cat person, you definitely have to try it! I’m already thinking of bringing Jayde here as well when she comes to visit. She will absolutely love it. This cafe obviously has lots of cats lurking around it. I think you only have to pay 200 PhP (100 Pesos for entrance and 100 Pesos for food).

This is how it looks like according to the site I visited just now:

I am also a catΒ ladyΒ so I am so excited to go see it! I am not sure what Meggie wants to try yet, but those fourΒ are my top choices so far. I’m going to take a lot of pictures and share it with you on Monday since I may be very busy this weekend. πŸ™‚

What are your thoughts on gift giving? And what are your plans this weekend? I hope you have so much fun!

  • Hmm…from your itinerary, I suggest you make The Sweet Spot and Cat Cafe Manila your last two stops. They’re located in the same building, with the second establishment just a floor above the first one! πŸ˜‰

    • Thank you so much for the advice! I am also thinking we should make the two cafes our last stop. Coffee after binge-eating is always a great idea. πŸ™‚

  • I’m a foodie too, so I wouldn’t mind a few yummy treats in my Christmas stocking!

    • Yay! I hope you get lots of it, but not too much! πŸ˜€

      • Yes me too!! Munch Munch… So looking forward to Xmas this year…. πŸ™‚

  • I love food trips. Please write about it after you’re done. I’m so glad that you’re smiling today! πŸ˜†

  • Diana, I challenge you to try a food you have never tasted before. I am going to do a little post on it myself now that I have returned from my business trip. I have tried three new foods this week and I know you know what one of them is. hehe. Have a great day! πŸ™‚

    • PHO???????? Haha. Omg. Of course I am going to try everythanggggg! πŸ˜› I can’t wait to read your post! I’m glad you’re back from your business trip. Hope you had fun!

      • Yeepperrss!!! I’ll give you some props in the post! It was great to see everyone but I am happy it’s over. SO much has happened.

        • Haha! I’d love to read about what that “so much has happened” mean. πŸ˜›

          • There are a few marketing jobs that have opened up. One of them is an editor’s position for digital content. When I mentioned I was interested, I received support from some senior management that I apply! Can you believe it! I’ve only just begun blogging a few months ago! I may not get the job but it’s exciting!

  • I love that you’re incorporating minimalism more and more into your life!! :)) your plans sound great, have fun with her! it’s so precious to spend time with our loved ones <3

    • All because of you! πŸ˜€ Thank you, and I miss you! I will remember to drop you a message and say “hi” later. Hope you had a great week! <3
